The exchange has finished very quickly. Because it was a local English school, I was a little concerned. However, when I went to school, it was completely different from the local English school I used to go. (I’m not talking about Rikkyo.) Some girls brought a camera and said to me, ‘Let’s take selfie!’ At first, I was confused. But gradually Millais girls and I got closer, and we ate snacks together.
I had two impressive things in this exchange. One of them is that I went to listen to Esther’s dad (Richard) playing in band at night. Richard invited me because he knew I love Coldplay. The place was in the mountain. It was so dark and I wondered if we could go home safely. There were many cottages. We entered Richard’s cottage. Some people were already practicing and the sound was so loud. I was so impressed by Richard’s singing and playing the drums. However, Esther said she was embarrassed to see her dad’s singing in front of her, and she took me out of the cottage. Then I realized that there were many beautiful stars in the night sky.
The second thing was Esther’s birthday party. Friday was her birthday. So we made cake on Thursday. The cake was shaped like pizza. She seemed to like pizza very much. Some girls came to the party and we ate pizza and the pizza cake. And we saw a movie. After the party, I gave her presents. I asked some of her friends and parents before I decided what to buy for her. She seemed to be very happy with my presents. We didn’t stop talking. At first, we couldn’t talk much. And her Japanese got a lot better.
We promised to meet again. I also promised them to bring back some presents for them from Japan. I can’t wait for the day when I can give a thank-you card to Sara and Richard.
