On 26th March 2022, we held Cherry Blossom Viewing event called HANAMI for local people, as part of the celebration of our 50 years’ anniversary.
To our great surprise and delight, over 100 people visited our school, to taste authentic Japanese lunch boxes under Japanese cherry blossom trees.

Thankfully, we were very blessed with the perfect spring day for the event.
Under the deep blue sky and full bloom of cherry blossoms, we enjoyed eating the traditional Japanese foods, specially made for that day.
People had their own relaxing time, lying down on the grass, taking photos of cherry blossoms, and chatting to each other over the lunch boxes.

We had invited Hide Takemoto, a professional guitarist, who added nicely to the already lovely atmosphere with his touching classical renditions.
It was like in a dream to be surrounded by clouds of cherry blossoms with pink petals dancing in the breeze while listening to music and the sound of spring.

There were moments when people interacted with each other beyond their own picnic mats, having tea or lunch together, this was one of the nicest things that happened.
The cherry blossom viewing was such a special occasion, as it not only provided a chance to appreciate the beauty of the flowers, but also created spaces where people were able to connect.
We hope you enjoyed this Japanese seasonal event and it has left you with the feeling of actually having been in Japan.

Thank you very much once again, for coming to Rikkyo school. It was such a special start to our celebration of 50 years.
Please may we thank you for your continuing support of the school and we hope to see you again at some of our future events!
